Discover how to access UCI Core Facilities and how they can support your research.
The UCI Center for Statistical Consulting and the Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Research Design (BERD) Unit's mission is to contribute to the acceleration of treatment discoveries across the spectrum of human disease/injury by providing and promoting exceptional biostatistical collaboration and education.
This presentation will cover:
Joni Ricks-Oddie, PhD (UCLA, 2012) is the Director of the UCI Center for Statistical Consulting and the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science where she serves as the Director of the BERD Unit. Dr. Ricks-Oddie oversees general operations and strategic planning for the both groups and their consulting activities. She facilitates connections between campus researchers in need of consulting services and the Statistics faculty with the expertise to assist them.
Dr. Babak Shahbaba's independent research focuses on Bayesian nonparametric methods and hierarchical Bayesian models and their applications in large-scale biological sciences. Because Bayesian methods tend to be computationally intensive (especially for large-scale studies), he has also devoted a part of his research to developing more efficient computational methods in order to facilitate the application of Bayesian statistics to data-intensive scientific problems.
