Andrea is an accomplished senior executive, serial entrepreneur, investor, advisor, board member, startup mentor, and thought leader with more than 20 years of business success in diverse industries and verticals. She is passionate about creating successful companies and making existing ones better. Companies led by Andrea have generated double and triple-digit growth, every year, for the last 15 years of her career.
Through her work in her companies and mentoring startups, she has built a network of entrepreneurs, angel investors, family offices, accelerators, early stage VC, high net worth individuals, and service provider partners, and has significant experience sourcing quality technology startup companies and participating in due diligence processes. In addition, Andrea has served as a guest lecturer, giving presentations at global conferences, universities, and councils.
Dr. Debbie Lin has over 14 years of business leadership experience in multinational environments, having lived and worked in global executive positions in the US, Europe and Asia. During her career, she has earned a reputation as an executive deeply passionate and committed to steering her organization in new business strategy and development, intrapreneurial and strategic thinking, and executional excellence. Debbie’s forte is new business model strategy, business development, venture capital in healthcare and medtech with a focus on value proposition refinement, market positioning and building strong teams for long term growth.
As Executive Director for Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund, Debbie was accountable for digital health investments, board directorship and digital health strategy setting in North America. Previous to her role at the Venture Fund, she was Global Director of Corporate Development where she crafted and developed strategies around new business models for healthcare and digital health solutions in major global markets. She spearheaded new business vertical creation by launching two full stack stroke rehabilitation centers in Shanghai, China, and Porto, Portugal.
Deborah Gubernick is a partner in the firm's intellectual property and commercial litigation groups. She helps small and large clients protect and defend their brands and business in the U.S. and abroad. She has litigated cases in state and federal courts and has handled over 100 matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Debbie routinely litigates trademark, copyright and trade secret cases, as well as cases involving false advertising, breach of contract,unfair competition and more. She has negotiated assignments, settlements, trademark co-existence agreements and licenses involving household brand names, high-end retailers, famous clothing brands, national sports leagues and more. Debbie has provided IP diligence support on multi-million dollar and billion-dollar transactions and routinely provides strategic counseling and assistance for her clients' global trademark portfolios.
Monica is a business professional and strategist with over 20 years of experience and expertise in small business management, business-to-business marketing and outside sales. In my current role as a Business Performance Advisor with Insperity, I work with local business owners in my community who are looking to reduce liability and increasing profitability. I provide small business owners with impactful solutions that mitigate risks such as providing employer cost containment, extending affordable medical benefits, alleviating administrative functions, improving employee productivity, access to critical performance training tools, facilitating top talent recruitment and much more.
Jiaxiao Zhang is a senior Associate at McDermott Will & Emery LLP, where she focuses her practice on intellectual property (IP) litigation and counseling matters across all forms of IP, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and unfair competition. Jiaxiao has substantial experience in federal district court actions in California, Delaware, Florida, and Texas, at the Federal and Ninth Circuits, and in proceedings before the US Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Jiaxiao is a registered patent attorney and former patent examiner, and also has experience in design engineering, biotechnology laboratories, and research, and as an engineer at a biomedical device company. She has prosecuted hundreds of utility and design patent applications from conception to post-issuance, and provides strategic intellectual property portfolio management and due diligence guidance for daily operations, mergers and acquisitions, and changing market considerations. She represents multi-national and Fortune 500 companies, start-ups and growing innovators, as well as individuals and not-for-profit organizations. She maintains an active pro bono practice, and believes strongly in the power of mentorship and representation.
Jiaxiao graduated from the University of California, Irvine School of Law with pro bono high honors, and has a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering through studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where she was named a College of Engineering Knight of St. Patrick, and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She is a committee chair of the Public Law Center Advocates, a past President and Vice President of the Orange County Coalition for Diversity in the Law (OCCDL), and was elected to various Board roles in the Howard T. Markey Intellectual Property Inn of Court. She was recognized in 2021 by OCCDL as one of its Top Young Diverse Lawyers in OC. Jiaxiao also leads her firm’s Asian Pacific Attorney Circle and is a member of the firm’s Associate Committee.
Shu Li, Ph.D. is CEO and Co-founder of Petri Bio, an LA-based biotech startup developing novel probiotics to optimize nutrient intake in order to increase healthspan and lifespan. Besides her passion for health and longevity, Shu has a Ph.D. in Plant Biology and has worked in agri-food tech and plant-based alternative protein sectors as well. In her spare time, she is a long-term member and currently serving as the President of the National Graduate Women In Science (GWIS), advocating for scientists whose accessibility to career development is limited by gender and/or underrepresented background.
